Installation & Use

1. Placement

   • Beam Gen 2: Mount the soundbar under your TV or place it freely on a piece of furniture, just in front of the viewing position.

   • Sub 4: Set the subwoofer preferably on the floor or on a stand that distributes the bass evenly throughout the room; avoid tight corners for a cleaner sound.

2. Pairing with the Sonos app

   • Open the Sonos app (S2) and add the Beam via “Add product”. Follow the instructions for HDMI ARC and microphone settings for Trueplay™.

   • Then add the Sub 4 by pressing the pairing button on the subwoofer when prompted by the app. The Sub 4 is automatically integrated into the audio chain Beam.

3. Trueplay™ calibration

   • Use an iOS device to activate Trueplay™. Walk the device around the room until the calibration is complete. This allows the Sonos set to adjust the equalizer (EQ) for an optimal listening experience, tailored to the acoustics of your room.

4. Set up voice assistants

   • In the Sonos app, go to Settings > Speech and select Amazon Alexa or Sonos Voice Control. Follow the steps to activate and pair the voice assistant. Check that the microphone is on the Beam is active (microphone LED lights up).

5. Multiroom integration

   • To get other Sonosspeakers To add it, go to the Sonos app Settings > System > Add system. Follow the directions for extra speakers so you can play music in every room at the same time or create separate zones.

6. Operation

   • Sonos app: Use the app for volume, playlists, streaming services, EQ settings (bass, treble, loudness), Night Sound and Speech Enhancement.

   • TV remote control: Thanks to HDMI ARC you can control the volume of the Beam operate with your existing TV remote.

   • Touch control (Beam): Tap +/− for volume, swipe for next/previous track, tap Play/Pause.

   • Voice commands: Say “Hey Sonos” or “Alexa” (depending on your chosen assistant) to play music, adjust volume, or control smart devices.

Recommendations & Tips

• Placement of the Sub 4: For optimal bass reproduction, place the Sub 4 not directly in a corner, but slightly separate from the walls. Experiment with positioning for minimal vibration in sensitive furniture.

• Trueplay™ at low volumes: Perform the Trueplay™ calibration at a volume setting around 50% so that the speech amplification and bass are adjusted correctly even at normal listening volume.

• Use of Night Sound: Turn on Night Sound when watching movies late at night—this will mute explosions and loud sound effects without missing any dialogue.

• Volume groups: If you want to play music in multiple rooms, create groups in the Sonos app and adjust the relative volume per zone for a balanced experience throughout the home.
