Focal was founded in 1979 in Saint Etienne and is to date the most important and innovative loudspeaker manufacturer in France. You are a speaker manufacturer if you design and manufacture everything yourself. This is in contrast to so-called manufacturers who only put together a product with purchased materials. The result of being a “real” manufacturer is that everything fits together perfectly. It is not without reason that the sound of Focal is known for the lowest distortion and the highest “intelligibility”. Something that is only feasible with full control over every part.
